My first step to WTA Spring 2003 I got an invitation from Bob McKinley, a great player and coach – the director of the John Newcombe Tennis Academy in Texas, USA, to go to the academy in cooperation with my racquet and equipment sponsor – BABOLAT – who gave me a good scholarship. So I decided to go there and try it… Fall 2003 I flew with my parents to see the John Newcombe Tennis Academy, also called Newks. I decided at that time to stay a semester, till Christmastime. It ended up by me staying a whole year, till May 2004, and having in mind to return for at least one semester more, in Fall 2004. After the two semesters at Newks in Texas, I flew home to Europe and played my first WTA – tournament, $10.000 Future, in June 2004. I played $10.000 tournaments in Portugal. I got my first WTA points there. |

Orange Bowl My coach in Germany, Guestan Geznenge, was the one who opened my eyes for the international arena. He told me to play the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida. Orange Bowl is the unofficial world championships for juniors. I was 12, when I first played there. After that I got the great taste of international tennis. I played the Orange Bowl in total 4 times, 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2003.
